Add two cups of technology and a pinch of knowledge...

Just in case anyone at 911 MANAGEMENT ( dispatchers, you may now call either your Management or Staley Communications ) is up and reading this on NEW YEARS EVENING... you have a T1 line that is down.

DEFINITION: A T1 Line is a communicaitons line supplied by a communications company such as Verizon. This line is a continously open line whereas data sent from the 911 center is transferred to the tower sites for broadcasting to the Police, EMS, Fire, etc. If this line is interupted or ripped out of the ground because of a vehicle accident or back hoe, the system we now use for Emergency Communications goes DOWN and no one hears anything, including the Police, EMS, Fire, etc. Calls from Police to 911 for HELP will go unanswered ! Calls to a Fireman from his Chief will go unheard ! Calls to a hospital ER Doctor from a Medic will... well, the patient would probably die !

Don't ask me how I know that, but Radio Maintenance is DEFINATELY needed.

The Police cars in the Ligonier Valley cannot hear you 911, YOU cannot hear the Police cars calling you from the Valley... just the fact that you are having them call you by phone should be a CLUE that you are having EQUIPMENT FAILURE.

Anyone with a scanner can hear both sides and it sounds stupid ! 911 is telling car 4-90 that he is weak, unreadable whereas they have a perfectly good signal when NOT in a DEAD SPOT.

I call this a partial SYSTEM CRASH !!

So besides the DEAD SPOTS, you now have a TOWER SITE THAT IS DOWN and out. Let's see, could it be the BEAR CAVES TOWER SITE again ?

I'll be up all night monitoring this so further updates might follow.

Come on Mark, the system is CALLING you ! TV time is over and the family games will have to wait... THE COUNTY NEEDS YOU (arg - just the thought makes me sick ) !!!

DECODED,

news@k3sam.com - send me your secret tips from inside the bowels of 911 / general comments / misc / if not for YOU sending the Blah-ger these tips we would not be getting closer to having new Directors and a better communications system !

ps: The reason this Blah-ger says call Staley Communications is because the county is under contract with them. Otherwise I would have said "call an actual radio service qualified to do the work, not one that uses painted metal scraps as critial electronic equipment grounding washers".
