2 Burgers, 3 Directors and a Comish to Go Please !
Greetings From The Blah-g !
I haven’t added anything to the Blah-g in the past few days due to several reasons. First of course was to take time out and celebrate the birth of Jesus ! The time of the season we sometimes call Christmas.
Another reason is this whole 800 mega hurts Cyst-em pisses me off and I needed a break from writing about it.
In the past few days, each and every problem I have been complaining about has appeared in one form or another… just doesn’t get any better than this, unfortunately !
Scottdale police calling for assistance for over 5 minutes with no response from the 911 Center, Ambulances calling Frick Hospital and Frick ER can’t hear them, a fatal attempt to set up a cross band repeat from low band to 800 Mhz, another fatal attempt to connect the Derry Police with the Sheriff’s cars on Countywide Law 7, Fire Station 110’s pagers not working, Medic pagers not working all over, and I don’t know the procedure for Dispatching Ambulances however 10 minutes calling one service with no answer before going to backup in entirely too long… I’m just glad I wasn’t the patient !
IT JUST DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS !
Is it the stuff enclosed in metal with lights and buttons at the 911 center they call equipment that is to blame or is it the people who are suppose to be operating that stuff. I use the word stuff because I don’t want to offend anyone by using the word shite.
911 still doesn’t have a full time electronics EXPERT, or even a technician that is gainfully employed by them. In fact the closest thing they have to a technician on staff is Mark who knows how to hunt and peck at a computer keyboard.
I’d like to see him troubleshoot a downed T1 line or program a radio the right way. Hell, I’d send him a diploma from the Blah-ger School of Self-Serve Perk Abuser School of Over-Nutrition if he could repair this system just one of the many times one of the 27 repeater towers shuts down !
Yes, 27 tower sites. I have it from a good source that we have another tower site on line which makes 27 repeater sites. If this is true I am very worried as the system hasn't improved not one iota. The Cyst-em is still filled with DEAD SPOTS, deadly deadly DEAD SPOTS !
Most corporations are structured, President down to the guy that sweeps the floors. I see the Wastemoreland Country Defartment of Pubic Shafty (WCDPS) as a corporation. ENRON comes to mind as I type. NOW, if we can only get someone from inside the corporation to break form (silence) and TALK to the media the way they have been talking to me, we would have an entirely new Director, Assn’t Director and 911 CoOrdinator.
TRUST THE BLAH-GER ON THAT !
I personally BELIEVE that Joe N. would make a GREAT 911 DIRECTOR, and BOB M. would be fantastic in the ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S CHAIR. There is another employee at 911 who would also fit in this MANAGEMENT picture. This person knows who they are but shall remain nameless at this time.
It's time for Rich and Mark to start looking for another job, and take Dan with you PLEASE. Perhaps if you talked Tom into resigning as well you could start up a kitchen band. I love to see someone playing the spoons !
We do not have the needed towers for an 800 Mega Hurts Cyst-em but they keep using it. I listen to Greensburg City Police on 154.800 Mhz and they have NO PROBLEMS what-so-ever… and I remember the days when Latrobe Police were on 154.740 Mhz without a single problem. REMEMBER that initially some idiot said that 12 to 13 towers would be needed to COVER the ENTIRE Westmoreland County Area with no problems... now after 27 tower sites they still don't have it right. I'm afraid to say on a professional level that even another 27 tower sites will still leave you with DEAD SPOTS !
WRONG SYSTEM FOR THIS TERRAIN !
Now all I hear are “are you calling me” and “10-9” and “please repeat” and “our tones didn’t set off the siren, can you retry AGAIN” and “you say you do want a code 3 or you do not want a code 3”.
Blow 3 times on the speaker if YES, TWICE for NO.
Another excuse 911 has been using lately when talking to the Police is “can you repeat, I was on a 911 line”. THAT IS NO EXCUSE ! Why do you think 911 has “CALL TAKERS” ??
This just tells me that they are severely understaffed. In fact I KNOW they are understaffed, but that was only told to me by one supervisor and two dispatchers so I don't know how true it is, DA!
Can’t RUN a county on 10 people inside an unprotected building and expect the people of Westmoreland County to feel safe !
So what did I cover in this short Blah-g so far ?
• The equipment sucks
• No Electronics Tech employed by 911
• Mark programmed all the radios incorrectly
• The 911 dispatchers are short handed
• Dispatch problems with 911 not answering Police when they call in
• System failing due to poor T1 Telephone Lines
• 911 employees that think the Greensburg Waste Management Co. is run better than the EMERGENCY CENTER
• “I can’t hear you” is becoming the 911 logo – NEW BADGES ORDERED
That’s a lot in a short period of time. You see why I get upset at this whole thing.
I received an email from someone HIGH UP in a police department and I do not have permission to reprint his email (actually I didn’t ask but I won't expose who it is or what Police Department they are from) however the contents of the email had to do with this...
In the past with all the Police departments on VHF frequencies all they had to do was “ask” for a State Trooper and one would appear on their frequency.
You see the state police would monitor the radio systems of all the local citys, boroughs and townships. Now it is IMPOSSIBLE for a Police Officer using this 800 Mega Pick of Shite Crap Hurts Radio Cyst-em to call a state trooper ! Oh they could call, but no one would answer because the State Police do not have OUR Cyst-em.
INTEROPERABILITY RICHARD MATASON, RIGHT !
How about, UNFIGGININTERUNOPERABILITY, that would fit ??
This person HIGH UP in that police department needed a trooper the other night for backup and one was only a mile away. But could he get a hold of him ? I’ll give you the answer tomorrow, DA !
WCDPS has lied to the Police and Police Chiefs, Firemen and Fire Chiefs, EMS and EMS Medic Chiefs, Media including KDKA and WTAE, Senator Bob Regola and his staff, and the Citizens of Westmoreland County.
HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE GOING TO TAKE IT ?
And the whole time we give them ( Hi Rich, Mark, Dan and the Elite ) FREE VEHICLES to run to Wally World, Soccer Games, Foodland and sometimes even make it to a fire, plus their FREE charge cards and cell phones (BLACKBERRYS), unlimited GAS at $2.29 a gallon for their vehicles, FREE insurance, FREE meals and passes to about everything.
Our Commissioners DO NOTHING about this. IMO our Commissioners are the REASON this has gotten so out of hand.
Commissioner Tom Balya must be laughing at this Blah-g each and every time his name appears HOWEVER I am just hoping and praying EVERYONE ( and there are many ) will remember this when he runs again for Commissioner.

What should be a sound communications system for police, ems and fire is actually a poor excuse for a radio cyst-em made to dispatch taxi cabs where the land is flat and the importance of receiving the message is not critical !
Mr. Commissioner, Mr. Director and Mr. Ass. Director.... the land here is NOT FLAT and ALL MESSAGES should be considered CRITICAL.

A good deal of the time 911 can't hear the units out in the field or they can't hear 911... so what damn good is this 14 MILLION dollar blunder ( and word has it from the Senator's office that we now have way over 28 MILLION DOLLARS invested into this junk ! ).
So, you see why I get pissed ?
