SATISFACTION !
Good Morning, I hope everyone had a safe Labor Day. They say that day was made for men a long time ago that worked their butts off in hot sweaty mills however I do believe there was probably a lady dispatcher somewhere that thought up the whole damn thing as she was thinking up a new name for Baby Boy Thunderbolt. Either way I hope you enjoyed the day.

What I want to touch on this morning is the following four things. Rolling Stones, A Phone Conversation, A CD, and Time… in that order.
OH NO, the BLAH-GER FLIPPED !
Nope, that was years ago. I’m still very much focused on our poor County Communications and how much Mega really Hurtz.
Let’s Go.
ROLLING STONES:
I didn’t have much sleep last night as I went to bed around 2 AM and woke up at 4:30 AM. But that’s all I need. West Wing was on the TV when I went to bed and I woke up with E! showing an interview between some guy and Mick Jagger (while showing Mick in the Background singing during this recent Stones tour).
Seeing a 60 year old drug addict (who looks 80) jump up and down on stage almost gave me a heart attack ! My God, not that early in the morning Guys.
The very next clip was a close up of Keith Richards and I have to admit I had to pinch myself to see if maybe I died and went to the wrong place. Ewwww and Scary at the same time !
They were singing “Start me up”. What were they thinking, 2 old men naming a song Start me up ? Theme song for a defibrillator ?
THE REASON I BRING THIS UP IS THAT I DO NOT WANT TO BE AN OLD ROLLING FRIGGIN’ STONE WHEN SOMEONE FINALLY FIRES THE MANAGEMENT AT WESTMORELAND COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND BEGINS TO FIX THIS RADIO SYSTEM !!!
For months and months I have been calling on Rich and Mark at 911 to fix the problems with the new radio system at 911, to this point they haven’t even addressed these problems or admitted that there are problems.
Any child can see how this new Multi-Million Dollar Radio system is falling apart and was designed by someone looking at a map of Italy – so things MUST be changed before someone dies !
I guess if they aren’t going to do anything about it I will just have to ask them nicely to resign their positions to let someone take over that knows about emergency communications !
If they refuse to move on, then my next step would be a signature campaign and letters to the editors of the local papers, which would all be directed towards our Commissioners who CAN and MUST hire someone to correct our RADIO PROBLEM !
Remember that I’m not asking for much, only for an EMERGENCY RADIO SYSTEM for our county that WORKS !
If Mark and Rich would admit that the system isn’t working right, equipment having problems, tower sites have been CRASHING leaving areas in Westmoreland County without complete EMERGENCY RADIO COVERAGE, the wrong frequencies were selected for this area to operate on for maximum coverage, using 800 Mhz has resulted in THOUSANDS of Communication DEAD SPOTS which could result in the loss of lives and... the whole thing needs looked at from the beginning again and THINGS HAVE TO CHANGE then I would believe that their first interest IS with SAFETY and not PRIDE.
MY PHONE CONVERSATION:
Last Thursday I picked up the phone and called the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ask to speak to a Communications Specialist concerning our new 800 Mhz radio system.
To my surprise I was actually put in contact with someone from the department that was familiar with this county and the new radio system. The name of this person at DHS is withheld from my Blah-g as per an agreement we made over the phone.
At the beginning of our conversation he said he was “very pleased” with the system and how it is operating right now. After I spoke for what seemed to be 2 hours while he did some checking, ask me a few questions and pulled up some department guides… he began showing a great deal of concern and frustration !
Why is it that someone from Washington DC can see the problems with this system and someone who Manages the damn place can’t ?
Without getting into the exact conversation I was promised that the WESTMORELAND COUNTY 800 MHZ RADIO SYSTEM would be reviewed again from top to bottom !
I also reviewed my findings of earlier last week about the big problem I uncovered. DHS also confirmed this problem and it is my guess that it will cost the county Mo Money… Millions of OUR tax dollars will be needed to fix it.
This was so minor that it was almost a “system fundamental” and was completely overlooked. Not funny but a single pencil stroke on a piece of paper by someone at Westmoreland County 911 Management cost us Millions of Dollars, Wow !
I will update this Blah-g with new info as time goes on.
CD:
I’ve been ask to burn a CD with some of the audio clips I have for a few who do not have fast internet access at home. I have no problem doing this however you have to remember that I am just an old retired radio maintenance fart with radio frequency burns on my forehead ! Plus I am not a rich person. (and Yes, this is just like the last one that I burned for the county, but this one has newer files on it)
Here is what I was thinking last night.
First, cost of my time and for the audio clips is ZERO. NOTHING. However I do not have a stack of blank CD’s nor do I have a connection with anyone at the post office. So, if you would be interested in a copy of these audio clips we just have to find out a way for you to get me a blank CD to put the clips on AND a way for me to get the CD back to you.
I will ONLY do this for Police, Medics and Firemen within Westmoreland County and I will only do this once. So if you are interested please do the following.
EMAIL ME at news@k3sam.com to let me know you are interested. This is not an anonymous type thing, I have to know who these are for. You may copy them later for anyone you wish.
PROVIDE ME with your idea of how you are going to get me a blank CD and then pick it up. I have no objections to mailing these out, so all I would need is your address and postage, you would still have to get me a CD.
WHAT THIS ISN’T is a CD with audio clips on it for sale. It I were selling it, or wanted to make a profit out of these audio clips, it would cost $1,000’s and Colombia House would have it in their catalog ! HA-HA !!
If you can get me a blank CD and pick it back up when it is finish, there would be no US Mail changes or ANY changes at all to you. I am just burning the damn thing and that part is free.
At this point I am just attempting to find out how many want a copy of this CD, the cut off time for letting me know you are interested is Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 at NOON. That’s tomorrow folks so don’t dilly dally.
TIME:
I am dedicated to making this emergency radio system a better system.
ONE THAT WORKS !
When I sat down to do this Blah-g this morning I wrote down the time. Right before I hit “PUBLISH” on my Blah-g site I will record the time and post it at the bottom. It takes me well over 2 hours a day to do this damn thing. I do not like doing it BUT will not stop until the radio system is FIXED.
What I am saying is the reason I am doing this at all is because the system we paid millions of dollars for is not working properly and the people that should care DO NOT. So I guess it's just you and me until we can find someone to put in 911 Management that does care... Then the system will get fixed and I don't have to write about it anymore. You see !?!
With that said I hope when I do finish the Blah-g for good and the WC 911 Radio System is up and working properly, the Rolling Stones will not all be in wheel chairs mumbling words to “NURSE, my Depends are Full and I Should have Changed It Years Ago, Over!”.
