GOOBERS OR RAISNETS ?

Don't mind the title. I received a spam email with that as a title. Just brought back old memories of my childhood and Goobers and Raisnets. Boy I hated them.

IT’S TIME

Yes it’s time to point out once again that I, your humble Booger Blah-ger do not sit here all day and make things up for this Blah-g.

I have many sources that supply me with information that I rely on and I wish to thank each and every one of them now. I can’t name those that are kind enough to slip me information concerning the Westmoreland County 800 Mhz Radio System and the Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety because most of them do not want their names mentioned.

In fact, no one wants to have their names mentioned.

This list of unnamed contributors include police officers, firemen, EMS personnel and EMT’s, county workers, 911 dispatchers and some of the relatives of the above. You know who your are.

I enjoy all of the comments and tips that are emailed to me and so do the readers that I share them with. Please keep those emails coming ! Send to: news@k3sam.com

The unnamed contributors are what make this Blah-g possible. Thank you !

MORE STATIONS COMING ON BOARD

The switch over from VHF to the TRS (Trunked Radio System) happens TODAY at NOON for several more stations. If you listen close on 33.70 Mhz and 155.160 Mhz you will more than likely hear a list of those stations. This is normally what the 911 center does… reads a list of those stations in each category that will now be moved to 800 Mhz.

This is really no big deal (right) as all of the companies that will be switching over to the new 800 Mhz Radio System have had their radios installed months ago and have already transmitted on them at least once or twice. The difference now is they will be using them as part of their jobs, not just to chit chat.

THE NEW UNIDEN BEARCAT 396T

Scotty J. received his new BC-396T portable scanner yesterday and was playing with it most of the Afternoodle. This thing is much smaller than the Radio Shack PRO-96 and has 6,000 possible channels, or 3,000 with text tags on each. It IS an APCO 25 digital scanner so listening to the Westmoreland County 800 Mhz Radio System is no problem.

Now what we have to get Scotty J. (or better yet he can get for himself) IS a Radio Shack PRO-96. The reason for this is that he has all of the other scanners now except for that one so he HAS to top off his collection.

If you are ever around Scotty’s Cave And Nooble factory you would know it by the noise. When Dispatcher Bob calls for Car 4-2, the sound of his voice is heard echoing off the rolling hills of the Allegheny Mountains ! I think the loudest scanner he has is the Uniden BC-796D but the clearest is the Radio Shack PRO-2096.

Initial reports from Scotty J. is that he loves the BC-396T scanner however the digital audio receive is JUST AS BAD at the BC-796D. This is something that UNIDEN was suppose to correct, and it appears they did not.

Nice if you like DIGI-CRAP.

AUDIO

Remember that you can still hear the Audio Announcement from Arnold Ambulance Service - Medic 101 as they went Code 40 on the 5th of July, 2005.

Your Booger Blah-ger just so happen to have recorded the short announcement and I have posted it on my website. Download or Listen to it from www.k3sam.com/800/AudioClips.html.

There are several other clips on that site too including the all new HIT SONG BayBoyz featuring the POLICE OFFICERS and DISPATCHERS from around this area. It it currently #1 on the WDVE hit parade. (or is it)

I will upload more files as they become available. I have several million right now but they all need cut down in size for posting.

STALEYS

Remember Techs, keep your eyes on those status LED’s (zone watch, power, etc..). Make sure they don’t fail as WESTMORELAND COUNTY 911 DOESN’T HAVE A BACK UP SYSTEM IN PLACE.

WESTMORELAND 911 MANAGEMENT

Remember Directors, keep your eyes on those techs. In fact, what you need to do is spend $39.00 on an AIR MATTRESS as one of the Techs from STALEY COMMUNCATIONS could be spending each night there. You know, in case of ANOTHER SYSTEM CRASH !

DISPATCHERS

You are now in charge. Keep your eyes on EVERYONE up there ! I’m a taxpayer and I hereby appoint you guys and gals in charge.

If you need anything, go ahead and order it with the taxpayers permission. (Fries anyone, call Washington Twp. PD, they have the best !)

How about 12 new headsets (non-Motorola) with better mini boom microphones so everyone can understand you !

Or a new gate pass card for Chuck, his doesn’t work.

If you need it, order it !

I have several reasons for putting the dispatchers in total control of our 911 system. The biggest reason is that if I call you, I KNOW YOU WILL ANSWER ! Unlike the current bosses.

WELCOME

Just a quick welcome to the Tribune Review Newspaper. Some of the employees are regular readers of this BLAH-G.

A word of advise. Do not use this Blah-g as a traing tool in how to write anything. Doing so would surely be the begining of the end to that paper.

This Blah-g and your paper are the "Difference between Night and Day". Of course I am the night thingy.

ENDOODLE

I still have much more to say but I promised myself a 27 minute nap and a peanut butter and waffle sandwich with lettuce, mustard and mushrooms dipped in pickle juice. I know if I don’t finish now I’ll never have time for the good things in life.

Remember folks, NööN today !

Decoded,
K3SAM
