GUEST BLAH-G !
Monday, Monday.. Can’t you see
Monday, Monday.. Over and over, it’s the same old song for you and me
This Blah-g is dedicated to Staleys and County 911 Management.
Good Morning,
As I start this Blah-g I remembered an email I received Sunday and I thought how nice it would be to turn it into a “GUEST BLAH-G” as the email speaks for itself. More County SCREW UPS and more Technical EFF UPS.
Besides, I heard way too many problems with equipment this weekend to write about everything... it would make up a book !
The following was written by someone IN-THE-KNOW who will remain anonymous.

Well, it seems that a certain large EMS organization based out of Greensburg was given 5 XTS1500s for each station. Too bad they only run a crew of 2 out of most of their stations.
They have MANY unused portables that are just sitting there and there are still other departments without enough radios. Why didn't they just get what they needed- especially for a PRIVATELY OWNED organization?
Why do they get their own talk group and nobody else does?
Since after a year, you own the radios, does that mean a department can sell any unused radios they have? We'll see.
Also, why is it that the "contracted installer" attaches the XTL5000 mobile's ground lead to a fiberglas firetruck body? This is just one of the very many eff-ups that we had to repair in vehicles already.
So far, we've found:
unfused power leads
butt-spliced power leads under a vehicle that corroded off in 2 months
chafed power leads that caused blown fuses- no loom over the cables
radios, control heads and RF decks mounted with 1 thumb screw
many improperly installed power leads in battery cutout switch equipped vehicles
antennae mounted on fiberglas with no ground plane
antennae mounted on decklids- against the contract's spec of roof mounting
many many labor corners cut to save time and $$
control heads mounted on top of pump panels (the W5 head is NOT weather/water resistant)
pinched wiring
radios that actually fell out of the console
relay drilled through by a TEK screw
radios that had headphone systems installed VERY improperly
antennae that were never connected to mobiles (1 even had no RF connector on the coax!)
control station Yagis installed with no lighting protection or grounding
Yagis pointed in the wrong direction
broken control cables from improper installation in ladder truck turntables
ring terminals corroded off the battery terminals (shouldn't even be connected to the battery)
firewhistles that fail to activate since the bases won't "auto power on" after a power failure
radio control heads mounted incorrectly because the contractor said "it can't be done" and we did!
This is Motorola's "factory approved and trained" contractor? These installers must have come from Burger King and have never worked a day in their life in the electronics field.

THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE of the many emails I receive for the Blah-g. Most authors do not wish to be published however this fine person AGREED to have their email POSTED for everyone to read JUST TO SEE HOW BAD THINGS ARE from someone who has to work with this system and it's techs.
THANKS and I will post more when you, the writers give permission. In reading this email it is EASY to guess WHERE it came from however due to job security, WHO it came from will remain Anonymous.
With that don’t drink too much Moose Milk and Please, Tech’s at Staleys you have to remember that just putting a RADIO IN A VEHICLE doesn’t make it work, you have to CONNECT IT (correctly would help also).
DECODED,
K3SAM
