Mr. WAZZU, Where R U ?

If the Booger and the Boogerette both wanted to work at 911 as dispatchers, would we be able to as a married couple ? I often wondered about that… oh well, just my mind wondering again, you know.

If you happen to find my mind wondering out there today would you please call 911 and report it. I'm sure they will know what to do with it.

GREETINGS from the command center.

I had an excellent meeting again with a fire fighter from N. Irwin and was presented with a STATION 12 FIRE DEPARTMENT decal for my vehicle and I wish to thank the Station and the individual that gave it to me.

Honestly I’m not sure if the decal will ever make it to the back of my vehicle as it is large, plus I don’t want anyone thinking that I am a fire fighter from “any” station as I am not HOWEVER this is something I will always treasure !

I could always play Freddie the EOC Firefighter ! You have all seen this guy, he drives around in a van with all kinds of emergency stickers on his vehicle and antennas out the wazzu (even has a TV antenna on it). He wears some kind of a State Police hat and sunglasses and has a CB in it with a PA System. I pull over everytime I see him... not because he is an emergency vehicle but because I can't stop laughing !!

Getting serious, we spoke about how to change 911 and possibly get them to move to the 400 Mhz frequency band, but my call from Washington D.C. didn’t come yet so I'm waiting on that before looking at that big of a change.

I am waiting to see what they think about possibly forcing 911 to move to that frequency spectrum where Westmoreland County (WC) would have much better signal coverage. I was going to call Joe at 911 for a comment on that but remembered that he is out of his office until next week and I don’t want to bother him at home.

COME ON GUYS and GALS at 911, STOP your little diddy about wondering who won the Blah-ger’s Tip of the Month Contest this month. You can chat about it all you want and sending messages back and forth isn’t going to get you anywhere either. They know who won and besides that, no one else will ever find out ! Enough said !

* * *

I was wondering something. I understand that Management will FIRE anyone caught feeding the Blah-ger information. WHY ?

I have not released the launch codes (yet), nor have I given out any inside information concerning dispatchers or supervisors home addresses or phone number, I haven’t copied the access card to the equipment room for anyone nor have I released any social security numbers or employee records.

So what is the friggin’ BIG DEAL ??

What I write about is when this system doesn’t work, which is most of the time. If that makes you mad then FIX the Damn system, don’t get mad at the dispatchers ! When a T1 Line Goes Down Which In Turn Takes Down A Tower Site Then I am Concerned. When the equipment in the back room burns up then I am concerned. When the consoles aren't working and the CAD system goes down, then I am concerned.

What I also write about is your PERKS.

I could care less if you get a company vehicle IF you worked for a bubble gum factory and company vehicle is paid for by the extra sales of a new flavor you came up with, BUT these company vehicles that you ride around in are PAID FOR by US, the people that live in WC and you sure in hell didn’t make any new bubble gum flavors that I know about (and digi-crap is NOT a flavor) !

PAY FOR YOUR OWN VEHICLES, PAY FOR YOUR OWN GAS, PAY FOR YOUR OWN CELL SERVICE, PAY FOR YOUR OWN DINNERS !!

Don't we PAY YOU ENOUGH that you can't go out and get your own car ? How about that 1978 AMC Pacer I mentioned before ?? Become a dispatcher, you'll make more money !

As long as you WASTE OUR (my) MONEY, I will write about it !!

I called 911 yesterday evening… YES, the Blah-ger had to call 911 and the dispatcher was so nice I wish I could thank him besides doing so here but my call was answered on the third ring and he was very polite.

The reason I called 911 is not important (sorry management, some things are personal) but you might read about it in my next Blah-g depending on today's outcome.

I have written about dispatchers and supervisors slacking off in the past only because they did. HONESTLY I COULD CARE LESS as long as phones were being answered and the radios are being manned. There is a new group of dispatchers that will be joining the force soon so that should ease up the duties of the currently active dispatchers.

The horror stories I heard before about only having 6 dispatchers inside the building with no Supervisor around and the rest outside smoking on the funeral home bench or leaving the grounds to go to Denny’s and BS is not acceptable.

You never know when all HELL is going to break loose and those phones will go unanswered or fire departments will go un-dispatched. But I understand the building has at least the minimum amount of employees staffed now with a supervisor inside and that’s what I care about.

For those of you wondering there has to be at least 10 employees on site to cover the calls. To me that doesn’t sound like a lot, but I’m sure everything was thought out and decided that only 10 people are needed to answer phones and operate radios for the entire county.

. . .

Getting back to being fired… please don’t fire my friends for telling me the truth ! If there are 6 people inside the building and 3 outside smoking… and one in the crapper and it’s a slow day I don’t care as long as the one in the crapper is reading a copy of my Blah-g.

INTERESTING TO ALL POLICE, EMS, and FIRE DEPARTMENTS. It was pointed out to me by a fire fighter in North Hundingdon that his WARRANTY on his radio is almost up. SAY WHAT, he just got his radio.

He took his radio in for service as it wasn’t working (go figure) and they told him that his warranty BEGAN when the county SIGNED the radio CONTRACT MONTHS AGO… NOT WHEN HE RECEIVED HIS RADIO !!!!

WOW ! That's almost as bad as the system crashing !!

You had better check your warranty as I would hate for your department to get charged a billion dollars for service on a brand new radio that has NO BUSINESS BREAKING DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE just because Motorola is starting your warranty date at the wrong time.

WHEN I WAS IN BUSINESS AND SOLD RADIOS, NO RADIOS EVER WENT BAD RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX !! AND NO RADIOS EVER COST MORE THAN A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS ! (just ask Bob M, one of the dispatchers... he knows) WARRANTY DID NOT START UNTIL THE PRODUCT WAS IN THE END USERS HANDS, and get this… ALL THE RADIOS I SOLD WORKED !!

I am being attacked by another website. They state that THEY are the only place to get up to date information on this 800 Mhz system. They state that most police departments are using encryption more because of my Blah-g. They also falsely accused this Blah-ger of selling CD’s of recording made from this WC Public Radio System.

I have an answer for them, in fact I have 2600 answers for them but I shall condense my reply to one word.

GET A LIFE. (I know that’s four words, but who's counting !)

SHORTS:

Have you seen a KDKA video truck near Public Safety Drive lately ??

I’m sorry, I cannot send the winning CD (tips contest) to the 911 center. Yes that would be a funny joke but I don’t want everyone copying it. It goes to you and I shall give it to you personally when I see you next.

I don’t know why the telephone system at the $600,000.00 Command Center doesn’t work. If you get the permission of the supervisors for me to go look at it I will. It’s IS a shame to take that Million Dollar Piece Of Crap Machine out to Emergency Calls like the Nudist Days at Idlewild Park and have those phones inoperable but do like you always do, use the supervisors cell phones for the important calls.

Better yet, sell the Command Center on EBay ! I understand you might get $500 for it if you throw in a driver.Have a wonderful day !

It’s F R I D A Y ! ! !
