Down and Out !
Should be "over and out" but that doesn't work when the system is down.
JUST ANOTHER WARNING - 911's LOW BAND IS NOW HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS.
If you have been listening, even if you only have the old type of scanners you will hear a lot of activity on 33.70 and 33.52 Mhz. 911 is having problems on the 800 Mhz system AS I REPORTED YESTERDAY and now they are having problems with the OLD SYSTEM.
Pretty soon we will be sending fire and police messages by UPS. Our Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety theme will be "what can Brown do for us ?".
EITHER WAY, Heads up as all systems are a NO GO for today. The technicians will be pissed as they will be missing the football games.

I started writing a my regular Blah-g about 36 hours ago, adding to it as things came into my mind. I will now post that Blah-g but I wanted to make sure I got out the WARNINGS about this system being down.
All I know is I would not want to be a Cop, EMT or Fireman today and know that I had to depend on this radio system.

Did you know (if you are a user of these stupid radios) that if POWER is taken away from the unit, like disconnect the battery and then reconnect it, you will have to physically turn your radio off and then back on again or it won’t work.
I tell you this because something like this just happened recently.
The battery of a fire truck was disconnected during minor maintenance and a fire call came in. The mechanic quickly connected the battery back up, the radio powered up and the firemen took off for the fire.
What they didn’t know is that they had to “reboot” their radio in the truck !
So, these firemen are riding down the road going to a fire RELYING on a $3,500 radio system in their truck and a $14 Million dollar radio system behind it awaiting orders or anything to be heard out of that radio.
They could not figure out why when they pushed the transmit key nothing happened. Perhaps a beep from the system, I wasn’t there.
Either way, it was NICE of Radio Maintenance AND Mark to tell these people that they had to SHUT the radio OFF then TURN it BACK ON before it would work after a power failure !
Upon “rebooting” the radio it worked fine.
GEEEEEEESH !
Every single radio I ever owned NEVER did that, but of course I never sold any 3-4 thousand dollar radios nor did I ever deal with any fire departments that could really afford such a radio… these guys are VOLUNTEERS !

Smoking is BAD for your HEALTH says the Booger Blah-ger however I continue to smoke. I started too many years ago to quit now and with the STRESS this system and 911 Management is giving me cigarettes are my escape crap (don’t own a goat).
The reason I mention this is I am paying approximately .69 cent a pack, or $6.90 a carton for cigarettes. Not bad, huh. Cheap way of killing myself. Either way, if you are interested in how I am doing this LEGALLY send me a request.

Maybe I’ve been too hard on Mark and Rich and the 911 Management Team. Perhaps the County Commissioners did us a favor by putting in this 800 Mhz System.
NAW, never mind. As I said, it was just a thought. We are entitled to escape from reality now and then !
This system is a joke with Millions of problems, and I mean $ Millions $ !
Anyone associated with the purchase of this system should be arrested and prosecuted not only for stealing our money but mainly for putting the lives of our first responders in harms way.

Having all the equipment on this morning and listening to what is coming over the system, why would 911 want to ENCRYPT what they say to Motorola and between 911 employees ? It is so Top Secret that they must be running peoples profiles or talking about users of this system that they don’t like.
911 and Bill Fleming were talking this morning and everything was in the ENCRYPTED mode. Why ?
Did Bill get a new vehicle now ?
Some examples that 911 might be saying that has to be ENCRYPTED;
10. That was a good movie last night but did you see that alien wasn’t using a Motorola Trucking System.
9. You go ahead and order today but remember I am allergic to those fishy things.
8. Are you still collecting gas receipts and would you like to order some AMWAY Products ?
7. Have you figured out a way I can make my garage door open by using my radio yet ?
6. Is it true that the Blah-ger WORKS at 911 ?

Sunday, 23 Oct 2005 the Ligonier Valley Fire Department Fire Sirens ARE NOT WORKING… A G A I N !!! I don't mean just one fire department, I mean all the fire departments in the Ligonier Valley !
Multiple Tests were made by 911 in attempts to set off these fire sirens with NO LUCK. This whole thing, you know the Westmoreland County Department of Public … is it SAFETY ? should NOT be made up of LUCK.
That is what it has boiled down to, LUCK.
Will chief 43 hear me, will car 4-70 copy car 4-60 on a HIGH SPEED POLICE CHASE ? Luck.
Now Bear Caves Low Band Tower Site Is Down for Low Band, 800 Mhz isn’t working right and it would be up to LUCK if the cell phones are working so HOW is 911 going to reach some of these people who are out on calls ? The cell phones might be working as it seems Verizon and others CARE about their subscribers.
LUCK !
This system was suppose to be designed by HIGHLY PAID ENGINEERS, not MONKEYS !!

911 RECENTLY told a fire chief that this WHOLE system was totally backed up. What a Eff-in’ LIE. FLAT OUT LIE.
There are NO Backups on our 800 Mhz Public Safety Radio System, NONE.
There are NO Backups on our Low Band VHF System, NONE.
Ask to see some of these backup systems. Shut down a tower and see what 911 uses for a backup system.
Most people do not understand that now, because we are now on a computerized 911 dispatch system that is trunked… the failure of just ONE transistor or Integrated Circuit (IC) could shut this county down !
Let me repeat… oh what’s the use. No one cares anyway or something would have been done by now. Just re-read the above if you want, I’m finished for this Blah-g.
