I have so much on my list to write about that it may take Three (4) days to get it all out. I guess the best way to get started would be to begin.

It is possible to do this BLAH-G quicker by using a technique called “brain wave transmission interlobial-reception”. Right now I am going to “send” all this stuff to you by using this technique…

OK, all of you that have received the messages that I transmitted can go do something else as you already know what I am going to write, otherwise you will just have to do it the hard way.

STORMS

Westmoreland County was HIT by it’s second big lightning storm of 2005 today requiring the services of all those fine men and women that volunteer their services with their local fire departments. They do give of their time and knowledge so that we may live in a better environment, for that this Boogy Blah-ger is grateful.

In fact I bumped into one of these fine gentlemen / firefighters today at the local store. I would have said hello but he had other things on his mind, and me.. well I was just trying to find mine.

Fire departments from Slickville, Delmont, Export, Jeanette, Harrison City, Chestnut Ridge, White Valley, Oklahoma, Murrysville, Greensburg, Latrobe, Derry, Markle, Forbes Road, Crabtree, Ligonier, Wilpen, Waterford, Bradenville, North Irwin, Vandergrift’s #1 and #2, Bolivar and others were all out for lightning strikes, vehicle accidents, trees down, flooded basements and the works ! (sorry if I didn’t list your FD here)

I monitored the super expensive radio system very carefully as the TAC CHANNELS (Talk Groups, TG’s) began to fill up. The two things I notice about the overall 911 operation were as follows;

First – this is a new system and even though the dispatchers have been using the system for a while I have to say that … they did a damn good job of keeping track of EVERYTHING. My hats off to all of you !

Second – reception from tower TO102 was intermittent and the Control Channel (cc) was changing faster than I change underwear. Ok, bad analogy however the cc was changing faster than a goat sliding on ice !

Poop, the CC was not stable. Without the expensive equipment in front of me that Staley’s uses I can’t say for sure if tower TO102 went out-of-service for a while or not. Either way the reception in Trobe was sporadic at best. (technical term - crappy)

I realize that I am listening to a $495.95 scanner and the police / fire / EMS are using $20,000 radios but even the cops were saying “Please Repeat 911, You’re Transmission Was Broken” so I know it wasn’t just me.

In one case I heard a Police Gentleperson ask for a favor in exchange for dinner for two. What she (the dispatcher) doesn't know is that he (the cop) is going to take her to Micky D's, that part of the transmission was completely cut out !

Anyhowzers, one of my contacts at KDKA TV Pittsburgh informed me today that the REAL CAMERA CREW for the TV SHOW COPS is in Pittsburgh filming Allegheny Counties Finest in action !

Normally a shoot like this would take several days of filming in order to get at least enough good stuff for a half hour show. So if you have reason to go to Pittsburgh in the next few days, take a look inside any Pittsburgh PD Car for the cameras !

If we start yelling loud enough they might hear us and come to Westmoreland County for some live shots !

GMAN’S WEBSITE AND HIS STREAMING AUDIO

I have been telling you for sometime now that GMan has a streaming live audio feed into the internet that each and everyone of you can connect to if you don’t currently own an 800 Mhz Digital Scanner. I know, this isn’t your own and you can’t move it around but at least you can listen !

Let me tell you that I listened to his streaming audio feed for the first time today and I was impressed ! Audio quality was excellent and the ease of using the multi-media software was super duper simple.

I could also see all the other users that were logged on and the chat room that was available to everyone to… well, chat. No one was chatting at the time and I had to go out and move another tower (haven’t done that in a while) so I couldn’t stick around.

Very nicely don’t Mr. G !

DISC-JOKEY IN LOWER BURRELL ?

Tonight Lower Burrell Car 9-6 was talking to New Kensington Car 9-13 (at least that’s the way it showed up on my screen) and being a retired disc-jockey myself I noticed his deep voice rattling my speaker. This COP should be a TALK SHOW HOST ! Ok, so he’s a good Cop but he could always pull a part time radio job somewhere in Pittsburgh and get paid Union Wages of $56 an hour ! He gives a new meaning to the phrase Deep Throat ? (TG 94)
