TENINE

Good Morning Westmoreland County !

After watching Hurricane Katrina hit the south yesterday morning I decided to take a break from reality for the rest of the day. When I returned this Tuesday morning early I found that nothing had changed. How about that !

I am going to name my next child, if there is one, Tenine (pronounced Ten-Nine). That is all I hear 911 saying any more when stations call them. (Can you hear me 911 - 10-9? Did you get that 911 - 10-9? Send an ambulance 911 - 10-9?)

Seems that it is easier to fall back on the Ten Code and use the 10-9 signal which means “repeat your last transmission” than it is to say “I can’t hear you because the system is all F*#KED UP" !

Besides using 10-9 doesn’t give me any more ammunition when I present these audio clips to Mr. X.

On Sunday and just a bit this morning I finished editing more audio clips and I posted them on my website. Remember, I have about 1,000 hours of recorded audio and it takes approximately one hour to edit an hour of recorded audio. It is going to be a long time before I get all the “good stuff” posted for your control room listening.

I was going to stop by 911 the other day. I went to Greensburg and saw that the gate was open to the center so figured maybe everyone was waiting for me with presents and warm greetings !

I know how much all the dispatchers LOVE me and I thought maybe I won the golden ear mic award for the month (or is that ear mite ?). I have an audio CD that I was going to drop off and thought maybe Rich and Mark would want a copy of it, but I figured they would hear it sooner or later anyway.

I had mentioned in the last Blah-g that (from information received) the Federal Government was upset at the Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety.

Seems an employee at the 911 Center turned the Department into the Feds for not living up to it’s part of the County contract, the same contract that got us all of that money for the 800 Mhz radios.

From what I understand there has been an investigation and it was found that this 911 employee’s information was correct. Something about interconnectivity and the fact that we don't have it. I didn’t hear what the charges will be if any and against who, but when I find out more I’ll post it here.

That’s basically it for this morning. Remember if you do not have a scanner at home for 800 Mega Hurts, you can listen to the Westmoreland County 911 system over the internet via GMan’s live streaming audio. Just go to his website
www.gmans.net for more information.

Once you can hear the 911 800 Mhz System you can play the game “count the Dead Spots” with me !

DECODED,
