the PHOENIX REPORT IS HERE and supper too

Good Afternoodles !

This post is going to address a few emails that I have received and emails in general.

The first one I would like to address is from Frank. He sent me a file that is known as the "Phoenix Report" to those in the public safety and the communications field.

Let me say this in bold letters.

IF YOU ARE A FIREFIGHTER OR POLICE OFFICER, THIS IS A MUST READ.

If I can take a few minutes out of my time to read this and I’m not a cop or firefighter, I would think you could and should… if you value your life.

What the Phoenix Report has done was take several modes of communications and compare them side by side in many different situations. Their report may surprise you.

My reaction to the report was one of satisfaction, knowing that the things I’ve been writing about are true and I’m seeing the “negatives” of our system at work. I don’t like what I see in Westmoreland County and this report verifies it.

Thank you Frank for the report.
Please Read This Report !

The next email deals with Murrysville. I had a firefighter email me from Murrysville VFD with radio concerns and questions on the reliability of our 800 Mhz system. This firefighter wanted to remain anonymous as so he will.

My only response was to have him read over my many blah-gs, the ones listed here and on the other prior locations.

Those locations are
-

- and this location

This system is flawed and in the months I’ve been Blah-ging about it I’ve only seen it get worse.

The report mentioned above may help you in understanding why our radio system isn’t working very well, plus all the other stuff I’ve written about including issues with our local terrain, dead spots, towers being down, data phone line problems, 911 radio software troubles, radios appearing to be weak at 911 when I’m receiving perfectly, poor receive in general, etc.

Perhaps that may be why I haven’t head Murrysville Police on 800 Mhz yet. I know the City of Greensburg Police is due to be dispatching before this months end ( hey guys, it’s the 28th ! ) but the City of Greensburg's and the City of Latrobe's Fire Departments are staying put on VHF for their local fire calls.

I think Murrysville Police might be the more wiser for staying on with their current dispatching system until this mess is fixed.

If I was Mayor or Chief of Police of a City and I was reading about all the BIG problems Westmoreland County 911 is having in this BLAH-G, I would do a lot more research before making any changes. Hell, New Kensington has already been without 100% communications for over 24 hours during a critical storm period. Arnold and Upper / Lower Burrell Police were also without radio service.

My sources of information, in some cases include Fire and Police Chiefs and they do not want their names found here. That is understandable.

If I had to worry about having my communications system go down each and every time there was a storm, that would be enough to make me stay on a system that has been proven to work. (hell, that’s the smartest line I’ve written in a long time… I must have eaten my brain food today!)

Another email was from a firefighter in the Ligonier Township area who is saying that their portables are not working in every where in their coverage area.

Again I can only offer that we need more towers in order to get 99.0% coverage.

You will never have 100% radio coverage in this County using 800 Mhz, NEVER. Just look at your cell phone service... don't you find areas where your cell service doesn't work or your phone goes on ROAM ? Well, in either case our 800 Mhz Fire, Police, and Ambulance Radios WILL NOT WORK.

We have no where to ROAM TO. That means NO SERVICE.

I’m going to STOP this BLAH-G at this point as I have other topics that need covered.

I have a call into the WESTMORELAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS and I am going to address all of these problems directly to them, or their representative.

I will let you know whether or not I get answers.

The answers I do get will be posted here.

Also, there is one thing I would like to announce and two things I would like to remind you of.

The Announcement: I now have an area for all to get together and CHAT. You need not say who you are, log in as SANTA CLAUS for all I care. Perhaps when you log on you might find me or a 911 official there to answer some of your questions directly. OR you can just chat with others.

Have your friends meet you there to talk, it’s free and it’s from the Booger Blah-ger.

Westmoreland County’s Scanner Chat Room:

Reminders: Should you have a question, comment or just want to report on a local fire or drug bust, the Westmoreland County 911 Message Area is for you. It’s also FREE to join and anything you post will automatically go out to 1,000’s (well, ok only about 20-30) of subscribers ! The more people that join the better the feedback will be.

WC 911 INSTANT MESSAGING BOARD:

MY WISHES ARE FOR 911 MANAGEMENT TO GET WITH THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND PURCHASE THE EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THIS SYSTEM WORKABLE.

Wish to comment to the Booger Blah-ger ? news@k3sam.com

How about supper ?
One Strip of Bacon Wrapped Around a Pickle and Dipped in Barbeque Sauce with Carrots and Mashed Olives. Peanut Butter and Bear Claws Fried to Perfection as your side dish. All served on a Animal Cracker the size of a Radio Shack PRO 2096 Scanner and shaped like a Dispatch Console. Marshmallow dispatcher figurines for desert. All of this while dining at the new Mega Hurtz Towers overlooking 4 mile island !

DECODED,
K3SAM
