GREENSBURG, KNOWS !

Well, let’s see.. I’m sicker than a dog ( although how does anyone know what a dog really feels like when it is sick ? ) but I will attempt to post a small Blah-g for you on this Beautiful Thursday Morning. You will not know if my attempt fails because it won’t get posted. That’s simple, huh ?

On my computer display I can see exactly ( almost ) what 911 is doing. No, not a Web Cam, or Damn Sam Spy Cam but something like a dispatcher’s screen.

(screen shot is very poor as my computer was sick too, it was hit by a flying Mega !)

When there is an overload or problem it shows up on my screen like it would on their screens and man oh man did the 911 system have problems yesterday ! As I usually say wowzeers and Geeeeesh !

It’s like Oprah buying you a new car and you let it sit out in the middle of the street, letting people throw rocks and toss mud on it. You are the one that is suppose to care for the new car. Same thing here with this 800 Mega Hurts Cystem, the 911 Management team is suppose to be taking good care of it and they are NOT.

Since the system isn’t going to be changed soon to 400 Mhz ( which I think it might come to that ) and I believe at least 911 Management ( which I am for changing at this point ) should at least attempt to keep it running like a well oiled car. They are not from what I can see. Did I just say all this twice ?

I will say that with all the problems the system is going through and while Rich and Mark are out fishing, a term used when someone isn’t doing their job, the DISPATCHERS have done one hell of a good job.

I mean that sincerely. Especially yesterday with the fire in Rillton and all the other issues going on in District 5 Police and the Medical Calls. Good Job Guys and Gals, you and I know who you are.

I am very please and appreciate of all the new local internet friends that I have made because of this Blah-g. These friends include people in very high places, some people that in my younger days I would have only met if I had been in trouble… yes, some very fine Police Officers and Police Chiefs.

Honestly I am proud and very honored in the mornings when I go to my email and see four or five emails from these important people wishing me a very good morning. I received one such email from a Police Chief wishing me a nice day and saying that he might be in the area on Friday asking me to meet for coffee.

That to me has made this work worth every hard hour and minute, I do NOT deserve all this kindness, I am just your humble Booger Blah-ger attempting to HELP our county get the best radio system available.

The kindness is so nice and thank you so much, to everyone !

I recently got into a discussion concerning The City of Greensburg, the biggest city in Westmoreland County and our County Seat.

I would have thought most other cities would be following what this City is doing as far as Radio Communications.

What I found out is that Greensburg Fire Department is still dead set on NOT going on 800 Mhz, why would they want to when they have one of the BEST radio systems around.

Same goes for the GREENSBURG Police Radio System.

I've been hearing on the air that the officers are having too many problems with the 800 Mhz system and all the DEAD SPOTS just in Greensburg, Southwest Greensburg and South Greensburg.

I don't blame them. Why would a Class A city with one of the best communications system want to change anything, perhaps updates to both the Fire and Police "VHF" Radio Systems might be on the way if things go right, but know 800.

So for right now and in the long term, GREENSBURG is VHF using their own Repeater System, NON-digital and NON-
Trunking
. Gee, imagine that.

Some new audio files are ready, one is now posted on my website and the other will posted later today. With that a good morning to all and to all, may you avoid the DEAD SPOTS !
