FLASH UPDATE

UPDATE

I did have several thousand words written about this however when I went to publish I received an error.. and lost everything.

In a nutshell Staley Communciations is working on it. The consoles at 911 were transmitting when they shouldn't have been... same for a few portable / mobile units. Software problem most likely.

911 - Put up a cot for these Staley guys.. they are going to need it !

I'll write more on this later. I do have an audio recording of one of these neat events... the guys and gals talking in the background at 911 not knowing they were transmitting. I'll call it "911 unplugged". Perhaps I'll be able to post some of these audio clips shortly.

BEFORE EARLY

YAWN

It's just about 5:00 AM and I'm ready to go horizontial however I just wanted to post a quick piece of humor from our Westmoreland Co. 800 Mhz Radio System.

I know some of hue read this BLAH-G early (why, I don't know but you do) so I didn't want to make U wait until this afternoodle. I also have an observation directed to those of you that own DIGITAL AUDIO scanners like the PRO2096.

FIRST THE HUMOR

I am not going to tell you what Fire Chief this happened to early this morning as I don't want him walking around Braeburn all day with a red face, however this is what I heard...

911: "... and operations are on TAC 5"
Chief: "I acknowledge 911"
911: "Chief, you are on TAC 7, you should be on TAC 5"
Chief: "10-4 911"
911: "Chief... you are NOW on TAC 9"
pause...
Chief: "Sorry"
911: laughter heard

OBSERVATION

If you own a digital skanner then you will appreciate this.

Why is it that when a siren is heard on a conventional scanner frequency it sounds like a siren and when it is heard on a scanner with digital audio it sounds like a Cat in Heat ?
