800 Mhz AUDIO KLIPS AND MORE

GOOD AFTERNOODLES

Are you reading this ? Not so stupid of a question really.

I originally started my BLAH-Ging at Hamblog.com, then due to technical difficulties beyond my control I started posting on my own site, Blog.k3sam.com. Then I heard about this great place so, here is I with 3 blah-g locations !

So I would like to know if you are reading this HERE and if you are enjoying what you are reading (I'm not done yet). Send me a quick note at news@k3sam.com and mention "the BLAH-G". Thank you from the bottom of my menu button !

AUDIO CLIPS

I have been recording the action packed 800 Mhz system on digital format. Lately some of the police (in particular) have been, well... clowning around ! I am going to start posting some of these funny clips on my website and will make the links available here on "the BLAH-G". The program I'm using is called Rip/Edit/Burn or just REB. Does a fine job and makes great .wav and .mp3 files. I will be posting .wav files for now and will make the .mp3 files available on my first CD which I will name "Sound Highlights Involving Talkgroups", or just S.H.I.T.

I already have hours and hours recorded but have to go through each file and edit so I can put out the best of the best.

I'm hoping to catch the one that will make me millions. Like an open microphone when car 5-63 is talking to 5-65 about RED OCTOBER ! You know, the secret stuff that WDVE will buy.

SUNDAY STROLL

This being early afternoodle I am planning a trip today to take more photos if it doesn't cry from the sky. My trip yesterday was cancelled due to excessive tears.

My puppy from hell, the chi-weiner (part Chi and part weiner, like Oscar Myer) enjoys the ride and loves those fire plugs !! He has yet to find anything he would like to leave his mark on at a police station.

So if conditions permit... the puppy, the skipper and his wife will be mobile with the digital capturing device in hand. No Gilligan, sorry.

LATROBE POLICE

I was chatting with a Latrobe Police officer yesterday at a downtown store and had a chance to look at his 800 Mhz portable. They must have taken the "bargain" package as the portable was of the XLS1500 series family. Those are the inexpensive ones, only about $1,500 dollars. Oh yes, the more expensive radios have 32 more channels (TG's), a display and a few other options. They start around $2,250 ! Cheap huh ? I'll take 3 and an order of fries PLEASE. The bargain package allows cities to purchase more radios as opposed to massive quality. MORE Vs QUALITY... court TV Tonight at 9.

CALLER ID

Calling all fire departments ! If you are in the Westmoreland County PA. area I would like to know your fire departments officials. For example, who is the chief ? Station 39 has Chief Banker, who is the assistant ?

The reason for this is simple. In my data logs for the PRO96COM program it shows each and every time your personal radio transmits. Right now I have general titles attached to each, like Lt.1 or 113-Port.205. Sure would be nice to send out the files with Lt. Jones or 113-Bob Robitt Would bring us Scanner folks a bit closer to our community (plus we are nebschits).

Email your fire department list to news@k3sam.com and I'll make sure the files are updated next time your radio is in use.

This also goes for the police departments if you wish. Who is chief of police, detective so and so, patrolman whatzhisname. Latrobe's police chief is Huska however I don't know the line up AND I LIVE HERE !!

Lemme know phellas..

GETTING USE TO

This blog hosting place location type thingy dot com is nice, and the boogerblahg likes it. Later tonight I will attempt to post some photos and other neat crap here. I am extremely experienced in everything, however don't know a damn thing about anything (if that makes cents). Just give me time to learn where the gear shift is and the canooder value and I'll be flying. (wait until you see my boogy awards !)

Thanks for reading and stay tuned to this channel for more.

VEWY FERST POST

IN THE BEGINNING

After using Hamblog and my own website, GMan has instructed me to try this site for my BLAH-G. Being the nice guy that I am, I will "try" (as I normally try anything twice... once to see if I like it and the second time to verify).

First I will say that I like the look and feel of this Microsoft type based like editor thingy and it is easy to change things in a rush. However I don't like the fact that Comic Script isn't available. HOW CAN I BE PHUNNY ?

Getting down to business (in case you are a first time reader), for now the blah-g (blog for beginners, blah-g for advanced), it is still posted at the K3SAM.COM website ( http://blog.k3sam.com ) until a final resting place (site) is found.

THEN THERE WAS ADAM

Ok, I'm not Adam, I am K3SAM. Yeh, legally. I have been covering the 911 Public Service switch-over from conventional VHF / UHF radio to 800 Mhz trunking radio in this fine county.

Westmoreland County is so hilly with rolling mountains that this boogers guess is that at least 39 sites were needed to receive and rebroadcast signals from all the cars and portables ! Wowzers. This is much more than an experiment, it is a "must succeed" task in which many organizations (mostly fire) have objected to. It better work with many many millions of tax payers dollars invested ! However, so far.. so good.

Starting in and around November of 2004 services began coming on line. June 1st yielded another 19 or so fire, police and EMS services to the system. Over 165 talk groups (TG's) are currently in service along with a ton of radios. Radios and TG's can be identified by using the PRO96COM program.

THEN THERE WAS EVE

Eve ? Sorry, I meant Evening ! It's at the breaking point where I have to make a decision on which site to post my BLAH-G as I know people in the know read it. I must first give you a run-down of tonights 800 Mhz scanner activity in Westmoreland County, Pa. ..

People talked
Sirens sounded
Criminals walked
And kids were grounded

Ok, not an update... BUT WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE MY REAL UPDATES ! Usually heads roll and there is gnashing of teeth... oh the blood !! Check out http://800.k3sam.com and click on Blog.

Until then..
DECODED,
K3SAM
